Optimizing and modeling of MAO coatings by means of ANNs and DoE methods abstract

An artificial neural network (ANN) was used to predict the corrosion resistance of MAO (microarc oxidation) coatings on an Mg alloy with the aid of experimental data from Taguchi method.MAO coating parameters including chemical composition, current density, frequency and dutycycle were employed as inputs and the corrosion resistance as output data. According to thesimulation results in training stage, high correlation coefficient was achieved between predictedand measured values. It was observed that the proposed ANN model was capable to predictcorrosion resistance with high efficiency.
