N-heptadecane- graphene nanocomposite for energy storage abstract
new organic phase change material (PCM) nanocomposite based on n-heptadecane-graphene wasfabricated by direct impregnation method. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and FTIR results confirmed thesuccessful formation of n-heptadecane nanocomposite. The effect of n-heptadecane/graphene mass ratioon the encapsulation processes, chemical and thermal stability of the resulting nanocomposites has beenstudied. In addition, the Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) images of thenanocomposite indicate that n-heptadecane was uniformly adsorbed into the graphene and thus itprevented leakage of the melted n-heptadecane during the phase change processes. This suggests that then-heptadecane-graphene based nanocomposite is promising candidate to be used in energy storageapplications, including building heating and cooling and thermal management of electronic devices.
