Synthesis and electrochemical evaluation of Pt-carbon mesoporous functionalized by nickel oxide abstract
Functionalized mesoporous Pt-carbon with nickel oxide have been prepared from CMK3 and nickelocene as nickel source with respect to different percentage of NiO (1 ,3, 5, 7.5, 10 wt%) and then the platinum catalysts (Pt 5wt%), obtained through a conventional wet impregnation method. All the materials have been unambiguously characterized by XRD, N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms, high-resolution field emission scanning electron microscopy, and cyclic voltammetry.It has been found that the specific surface area of the mesoporous carbon materials has decreases with increasing the NiO. The structural characterizations has been indicates that a good mesoporous structure for the Pt-CMK-3-1%NiO.It was found that the Pt-CMK-3-1%NiO has a highly ordered pore structure and better surface morphology as compared to other materials prepared for this study. Moreover, it was found that the NiO functionalized materials has good capacitive behaviour due to its unique mesoporous structure when using a less amount of NiO to fabricate the electrode and the current will decrease when the amount of NiO is increasing and also this sample is showing better electrochemical properties in relative to pure samples.
