Manufacture of faujasite-type zeolite Y from different sources of natural raw materials abstract
Bentonite was used as a silica source for zeolite syntheses. This study investigated production of zeolite Y from different sources of bentonite. The experiments were carried out at aging time (24 h), crystallization time (24h) and crystallization temperature (98°C). Properties of synthesized zeolites were investigated by X-ray diffraction. The XRD patterns confirmed that zeolite Y has been synthesized successfully. The Si/Al ratio of the synthesized samples were 3.5, 3.9, 3.61 and crystallite size was around 37 nm. The results showed that the zeolite Y synthesized from pure bentonite has no competitive phase, but the samples produced from industrial bentonite have trace amount of zeolite NaP.
