Investigation of the effect of TiO2 and CaCO3 particle size on the properties of water-based styrene-acrylic resin abstract

Today, about 80% of the coatings used in various consume are water based. The quality of the final coating depends on many parameters, including the type and characteristic of the resin, the type and amount of additive are used. In this study, TiO2 pigment with three types of, 1500 mesh, 2500 mesh and precipitated CaCO3 have been used. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the amount of TiO2 and various particles size of CaCO3 on properties such as gloss, grinding. This test is performed at a temperature of 25±2 ° C and with a moisture content 50 ± 5. The results showed that particle size, solids concentration, filler type, filler oil absorption affected gloss, grind size.
