Abstract:
Glass industry is diverse, both in terms of production process and manufacturing techniques. Meanwhile, the production of glass containers is a large part of the glass industry. The present study focused on decision-making with regard to production planning in glass container industry which is a semi-continuous process industry. The aim was to propose a model with a comprehensive view; in fact, attempts were made to acknowledge and include the objectives and constraints of various stakeholders in the model. To this end, in addition to profit maximization which is important from a sales perspective, the perspective of production stakeholders, i.e. production managers, has been included in the model. Accordingly, an integrated model is proposed for decision-making regarding production planning which simultaneously maximizes profit and production level. Next, to evaluate the model, a numerical example taken from a large glass container production company in Iran is considered in terms of the proposed model and then solved. To solve the bi-objective model, the weighting method was utilized. Finally, results are reported based on various weights where the final decision-maker can make the best decision for production planning based on the conditions.
