Abstract:
In the present work, a new method for enhancing the mass transfer coefficient in the gas absorption process is reported. CO2 absorption experiments were carried out in a wetted wall column using different aqueous nanofluids as the solvent. In this work, Al2O3/Water, and TiO2/Water nanofluids were used as solvent. Effect of liquid flow rates , nanofluids type and also effect of nanoparticles concentration on the mass transfer rate and mass transfer coefficients were investigated. Al2O3/water nanofluid with concentration of 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 0.5 v/v%, TiO2/water nanofluid with concentration of 0.05, 0.1 and 0.5 v/v % have been used. Experimental results showed that the Al2O3/water nanofluid has higher mass transfer rate and mass transfer coefficient in comparison to the base fluid (water). Mass transfer coefficient and mass flux were enhanced for Al2O3/water nanofluid and the enhancement value was increased with increasing of nanoparticle concentration also transfer coefficients and mass flux have decreased by using TiO2/water nanofluid.
