Hybrid Plasma Catalytic Remediation for Wastewater Treatment abstract

As wastewater treatment becomes a critical problem, the development of innovative advanced oxidation processes for wastewater treatment is still a major challenge. With regard to its fast removal rate and environmental compatibility, plasma technology is acknowledged as a promising remediation technology for water remediation. On the other hand, the plasma technology because of electrode erosion, high energy consumption and inadequate use of radicals and ultraviolet lights have still some obstacles. The present review is concerned about the hybrid plasma-catalytic systems. Therefore, the effect of various material such as activated carbon, ferric or ferrous ions, and photocatalysts such as TiO2 was studied.
