Abstract:

Background:The health of donated blood is of paramount importance . In the blood transfusion medicine, the algorithm is performed to reduce the inconsistency and increase the blood s health , This process was set up in 2002 to prevent mistakes in Iran .So The purpose of Blood samples screening algorithm was to provide healthy blood at Iranian Blood Transfusion Center and reduce the risk of transmitting blood infections.Method:Information about the screening tests algorithm from 2014-2016 was extracted from the Negare software. For those cases where the results of the screening tests on the sample tube did not match the sample bag (segment), the algorithm was implemented. Results :From a total of 6280979 donors from 2014 to 2016, 17662 algorithm were performed and 117063 blood unites were Blocked and tested again by sample from bag .Of the 17662 algorithm , 141 had positive confirmation tests. (confirmation tests. Included HCV blot , HIV (Western Blot), HTLV (Western Blot), HBC Ab and HBsAg confirmatory Test)Conclusion:Therefore, according to the results obtained, by performing the algorithm and performing a retest on the sample bags (segment) and blocking donation units, 141 positive cases were identified and prevented from release.Which indicates the effectiveness of this process Which ultimately leads to reduced errors, Increased of healthy blood donation and Guaranteed blood safety. Therefore, it is highly recommended that according to the current structure of the blood transfusion organization of Iran , Implementing the algorithm to reduce the error and increase the health of blood donations.
