Abstract:

Introduction: Cancer is uncommon in patients less than 20 years old, with an annual incidence of 18.7 per 100,000 children aged 0 to 19 years, accounting for only about 1 percent of all new cases of cancer in the United States, or approximately 16,600 A new item in 2014.Malignant neoplasms are still considered as a cause of death (12%) in children aged 1 to 19 years.After three and a half decades of important therapeutic and clinical interventions, significant progress has been made in a high percentage of patients.Materials and methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional, ecological-analytical study in Qazvin province. Information about cancer patients is available at the Department of Cancer of Qazvin province. Patients information is about age, sex, place of residence for the last 10 years and place of birth, cancer tissue and cancer type, along with the degree of differentiation of cancer. All children with cancer diagnosis diagnosed in Qazvin province were studied from 2001 to 2013. Then they are sorted and varied by SPSS v.24.Findings: During the years under study (1394-1388), 305 cancer patients were diagnosed in Qazvin province. The incidence of cancer in both genders is the same and did not differ. The highest number of patients diagnosed in 2006 was with 47 patients. A total of 169 patients (60.4%) were born in Qazvin. The age range of 0-4 years had the highest number of patients. The mean age of the patients at the time of diagnosis was 8.83 ± 5.73. Cancer Acute lymphoblastic leukemia, NOS with 57 patients (18.7%) was the most commonly diagnosed cancer.in second ranking Acute myeloid leukemia with 11 patient ( 3.6 % ) and Nephrobalstoma with 10 patient ( 3.3%) were other the most commonly diagnosed cancers.Conclusion: According to the results, it is necessary to educate doctors about the signs and symptoms of cancer in children and how to diagnose them. A review of risk factors for pediatric cancer and screening is needed.
