Abstract:
In this article CaAl2O4 nanoparticles were prepared using a reverse micelle method as the adsorbent and its ability to remove congo red (CR) from aqueous solution by adsorption was investigated. The as-prepared adsorbent was first analyzed by XRD, FESEM, EDX and BET. The influence of various experimental factors such as contact time, pH and temperature of dye solution were studied. The 8 mg of CaAl2O4 nanoparticles was able to achieve 85% removal of CR (50 mg/50mL) from aqueous solution. This work shows that CaAl2O4 nanoparticles holds promise to act as an effective adsorbent to remove CR from aqueous solution.
