Abstract:

IntroductionCell therapy is an attractive therapeutic platform for treatment of some diseases. Among various types of cell therapy, stem cell therapy has been emerged as an effective therapeutic approach in this field. A large number of studies indicated that application of them is associated with a different advantages and disadvantages. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a heterogeneous subset of pluripotent non hematopoietic stromal cells; possess the potential to differentiate into various cell lineages. They are capable of Trans locating into damaged areas to provide immunomodulatory effects. The secretions of MSCs have gained considerable attention in recent years.ObjectivesIn this study, the comparison between applications of stem cell and cell free therapy are investigated in regenerative medicine.MethodsA review of the literature was performed using PubMed, with keywords like mesenchymal stem cell , conditioned media , and regenerative medicine . The search was limited to the articles published over the last 10 years in English language.ResultsImplanted MSCs do not survive for long, suggesting that the benefits of MSC therapy might be attributable to their secreted factors including cytokines, growth factors, and exosomes. Secretome-based approaches using conditioned media (CM) or exosomes may demonstrate considerable potential advantages over living cells in terms of manufacturing, storage, handling, product shelf life, and their potential as a ready-to-go biological therapeutic agent.ConclusionManipulation of stem cells-derived secretome has appeared as an effective novel alternative therapeutic option for a variety of diseases
