Insights on Mechanisms of Antibiotic Resistance in Bacteria: A structural biology aspects

The discovery of Penicillin developed the world of medicine. After this discovery, thousands kind of penicillins developed and prescribed around the world. The development of resistance toward antibiotics is a clinical challenge that is becoming a public health problem around the world. Different mechanisms of resistance exist in bacteria. Antibiotics with more stability and enzyme inhibitors are developed to overcome this challenge. The β-lactams, their mechanism of resistance, more stable antibiotics, and β-lactamase inhibitors are the focus of this review.
