Abstract:
Aluminum sulfate octadecahydrate (Al2(SO4)3.18H2O) catalyzed one-pot multi-component synthesis of biologically active polysubstituted quinolines via Friedländer hetero-annulation/condensation in a one-pot condensation of 2-aminobenzophenone and ketone/ketoesters under solvent-free conditions with no necessity of chromatographic purification steps. Use of readily, environmental friendly, easily handled and inexpensive catalyst, good yields, solvent-free conditions and operational simplicity are among the other added advantages that make this approach an attractive alternative for the synthesis of this biologically active compounds.
