Abstract:
The Mortality due to breast cancer has been reported 8_23 out of 100 females which is shocking statics, and since most of the treatments available have dangerous side effects; Natural Treatment can be a good replacement. Basil plant with special therapeutic properties has been used in cancer. Extract of basil plant was extracted by the water-extraction method. In order to study the influence of the gained extracts on the percent of living cells on the MCF-7cell line; the malignant cells caring with basil was done in different concentration (1, 10, 50, 100, 500, and 1000 μg/mg). The reproduction rate tripcination and the living cells percent was gained with MTT test and with IC50 calculation (%50 inhibition concentration). . The statistical analyses were carried out using Graph Pad Prism. The results of this study showed that the rate of cell proliferation of MCF-7 cells decreases with increasing concentrations of basil extract (1000, 500, 100, 50, 10, and 1 μg/ml). Also, based on the results, the rate of reproduction, which isconsidered here with the mean of total number of cells in different concentrations of basil extract (1000, 500, 100, 50, 10,1 μg/ml) in the cell line CFM-7 is different for 24 hours, and the rate of cell proliferation decreases with increasing concentrations of basil extract. In conclusion, the anticancer activity of this plant is confirmed in the present study.
