Decreased Expression of BCKDK Gene Related to Branched Chain Amino Acid Metabolism in Subcutaneous Adipose Tissue of Pregnant Women with PCOS

Abstract:

Background: Access gene expression of enzyme involved in the metabolism of branched-chain amino acids in subcutaneous adipose tissue in pregnant women with PCOS and its compari-son with pregnant women without PCOSMaterials and Methods: In this case control study, biopsies of subcutaneous abdominal fat during cesarean section was per-formed from 12 pregnant women with PCOS and 6 pregnant women without PCOS. Samples were then washed, cut and snap-freezed immediately. Branched chain ketoacid dehydro-genase kinase (BCKDK) gene expression of subcutaneous tis-sue samples was measured by real time PCR.Results: The level of mRNA expression of BCKDK in subcu-taneous adipose tissue was decreased in pregnant women with PCOS in comparison with pregnant women without PCOS(P< 0.05).Conclusion: The results suggest that alteration in gene expres-sion of BCKDK in BCAAs metabolism of white adipose tissue can play a dynamic key role in pathology of PCOS which war-rants further studies.
