Six Sigma Approach in Metro abstract

Six Sigma is a proven disciplined ,data driven approach to improving efficiency and quality. Six Sigma has two key methodologies – DMAIC and DMADV.DMAIC is used to improve an existing product or process, but is not meeting customer specification or is not performing adequately. While DMADV is used to create or develop new product/ process design, or existing product /process has been optimized(using DMAIC)but still doesn't meet the level of customer specification. Six Sigma project success stories exist from organizations, including: manufacturing, healthcare, banking, insurance, construction, programming, research, and so on. Since rail transportation industry ,generally , and Metro plans, specially, has faced a number of major challenges & constraints in our country, Six Sigma can be applied to improve every aspect of above mentioned subject from construction projects to operations, saving time and money for customers and company. Investment in Six Sigma will reach the break – even point in a few years and overall savings will add substantially to bottom line while also benefiting customers. In this paper, using of DMAIC or DMADV cycle is concerned to possible improvements with Metro case.
