The introduction of an allergic reaction to Surgicel in neurosurgeries abstract

Introduction: The use of Surgicel is one of the functional methods in order to stop bleeding during various surgical procedures, especially neurological surgery. The sterile Surgicel is placed on the hemorrhage position which ultimately prevents bleeding through volume increasing and quick clot formation, causing pressure on bleeding vessels. The complications faced by the use of Surgicels include inflammation, delay in tissue repair and necrosis.Case Report: We report a case of a 60-year-old woman who has been diagnosed with allergy to Surgicel, referred to hospital with hysterical symptoms. The patient underwent craniotomy surgery after diagnostic procedures, and did not report any problems during the postoperative period except for vertigo and pain. The diagnosis and treatment of this item has important and significant points subsequently outlined. Conclusions: After examination, we concluded that the use of Surgicel may eventuate in some complications for patients. Therefore, it is recommended to report and chart the use of Surgicel in the patient s body so as not to be considered as a mass, abscess or hematoma in the post-operative period
