Title : Effect of rapid thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke. A systematic review and meta-analysis

Background: Stroke or cerebrovascular accident is a disruption of the blood supply to the brain and an accruing loss of brain function. It can occur because of lack of blood flow (ischemia) caused by thrombosis or arterial embolism or by hemorrhage.recently some study involving patients with acute stroke have consistently shown a clinical benefit for mechanical thrombectomy. This meta-analysis, reviews all study about effect of rapid thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke. Search Method: The relevant empirical literature was identified by searching several electronic databases: PubMed and NLM Gateway (for MEDLINE), Institute of Scientific Information (ISI), SCOPUS and EMBASE , between January 1991 to May 2019 The search was performed by cross-referencing the words acute ischemic stroke and thrombectomy or etc . The analyses were conducted with STATA software, version 15.0. Result : The reported prevalence is presented as percent and 95% confidence interval. he search yielded 304 publications that were related to inclusion criteria. According to titles, 116 publications were excluded as clearly ineligible, leaving 14 for further review. Of these 14 studies, 2 had been reported that catheter thrombectomy in ischemic stroke had significant beneficial effect on acute phase of stroke patients , while 12 studies determine rapid thrombectomy had significant effect on mortality in some patient as may reduce duration of haspitalization . Conclusion: Neuroprotection is a relatively newer approach in the management of stroke. Among patients with anterior circulation stroke who could be treated within 12 hours after symptom onset, stent retriever thrombectomy reduced the severity of poststroke disability and increased the rate of functional independence .This results of the current study indicated that effectively protected the brain . This activities can be supposed the main factors responsible for the neuroprotective effect of catheter thrombectomy
