Abstract:

In order to evaluate the effects of irrigation and nitrogen management for rice in different planting methods on yield, yield components and the growth characteristics, a field experiment was conducteda randomized complete block design with three replications. The treatments comprised of two cultivation methods including; paddy on raised bed with split nitrogen fertilizer mixed with furrow irrigation method and conventional cultivation practice in Ozineh district of Gorgan city, Iran during 2013. The result indicated that split nitrogen fertilizer with furrow irrigation in raised bed increased seed yield of transplanted Fajr rice up to 16.02 % compared to the conventional method. Nitrogen fertilizer mix with furrow water in bed planting method increased the number of panicle/m2, the number of seeds/panicle and 1000-seed weight of rice compared to those obtained using the conventional method. About 21% of irrigation water could be saved by fertigation technique in raised bed compared to the conventional method. Also, water use efficiency (WUE) for seed and biomass production was higher at fertigation in raised bed than in the conventional method.
