An Investigation of Sexual Health and Fertility in Women after Breast Cancer Contraction

Introduction:Breast cancer is among the commonest malignant cancers among pregnant women and its diagnosis alone can have negative psychological impacts on the patients. When accompanied with other disorders, this problem can severely affect the patient’s quality of life.Methods and Materials: The present review article makes use of papers indexed in the following databases: Science Direct, Web of Science, Magiran, Google Scholar, Sid, and Pub Med to search for keywords like sexual dysfunction, breast cancer, fertility and chemotherapy 67 articles were extracted and after examining based on Prisma Checklist, 20 of the articles were removed and finally, 47 of the selected articles from 2010 to 2019 reached the criteria and data were extracted from them.Findings:According to the literature, breast cancer and its treatment can cause sexual disorders like vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, vaginismus, orgasm disorders, premature menstruation, and abortion.Additionally, due to the lack of estrogen, vaginal atrophy and the lack of Androgen, instances of sexual drive reduction can be profusely found among such patients. Also, the above-mentioned hormonal changes and the side effects of chemotherapy, by negatively impacting ovulation, can cause premature ovarian insufficiency and as a result make some problems for the patient in terms of productivity.Discussion and Conclusion:With respect to the findings, it is recommended that women who suffer from breast cancer take consultation sessions in order to improve their sexual conditions and use methods like embryo freezing or frozen ovules to sustain their productivity.
