THE EFFECTIVENESS OF RESILIENCE TRAINING ON INDICATORS OF WELFARE (PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL) AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN WOMEN WITH METHAMPHETAMINE-ADDICTED SPOUSES

Abstract:

Background and Aim : Drug addiction is a major public health problem. In Iran, addiction is considered as a chronic recurrent disease with a large outbreak. Therefore, this study was conducted to understand the effect of resilience training on indicators of welfare and quality of life in women with methamphetamine-addicted spouses.Methods : The research was semi-experimental type with pre-test and post-test design containing experimental and control groups. The statistical population included women methamphetamine-addicted spouses who referred to Zagros addiction rehabilitation center in Kermanshah. 40 people were selected by available sampling method and randomly divided to two groups of experimental (20 persons) and control (20 persons). They responded to Reif psychological well-being questionnaire (1989), KIZ social well-being questionnaire (1998) and Vary and Sherbon quality of life questionnaire (1992). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multivariate covariance analysis.Results : The results showed that in the post-test stage, the mean values of psychological well-being and corresponding components including self-acceptance, independence, positive relationships with others, purposeful in life, personal growth and environmental domination and social well-being and corresponding components including solidarity, cohesion, participation, flourishing and acceptance of the two groups were significantly different (P <0.05). The results also showed that there was a significant difference between the mean values of quality of life and the components of mental health, social health and environmental health (P <0.05), but this difference was not significant in the physical health component (P <0.05).Conclusion : Resilience training, can be used to improve the indicators of well-being and quality of life of women in families with social and mental harm, due to its emphasis on individual competence, control and spirituality.
