Abstract:

Background: The present review gives a comprehensive summary of the Effective chemical constituents of herbal remedies on wound healing process. Hypericum perforatum L. (Hypericaceae) also known as St. John’s Wort (SJW), is a herbaceous chronic plant native to Asia and Europe. St. Johnʼs wort oils used for the treatment of minor wounds and burns, abrasions, bruises, contusions, ulcers, myalgia and many others.Method: In this article we have used most of electronic data bases such as google scholar, ncbi, scopus and research gate for finding out the wound healing effect of Hypericum perforatum L.Result: Lipophilic phloroglucinol hyperforin is available in 0.6% in fresh Hypericum oil made in the light or dark. Hypericins also show antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory activities, especially when irradiated with visible light. Recently, various Hypericum formulations used as gels, ointments, creams, lotions, sprays, and bath oils which may offer easier handling and better stability than oils. Conclusion: Wounds ar physical injuries that cause a disturbance within the traditional skin anatomy and performance. In normal instances, Increasing knowledge about SJW pharmacological activity shows that the clinical foundation for SJW treatment of wounds results from its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities, and from stimulation of fibroblast motility, collagen production, and keratinocyte differentiation and most of them is because its characteristic ingredients such as phloroglucinols (e.g., hyperforin) and naphthodianthrones (e.g., hypericin). Hence, the utilization of herbs is limited to special conditions or in order to accelerate the healing process.
