Gastrointestinal Cancer Care for Oncology Nurses abstract

Gastrointestinal cancers are the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. With many public awareness efforts focused on other cancers, such as breast and lung, patient and healthcare professional education is lacking on treatment and prevention options for this deadly disease. Unfortunately, many of these cancers are surgically un- resectable at the time of diagnosis, placing more emphasis on the oncology nurse to provide knowledge of current treatment and screening strategies to educate patients.Gastrointestinal Cancer Care for Oncology Nurses provides much-needed insight on the current treatment and prevention efforts in this constantly evolving field. Information on cancer etiology and risk factors, diagnostic evaluation, signs and symptoms, prevention, surveillance, treatment, nursing care, and other current issues is also intensively discussed. The broad but developed knowledge is an essential reference for the nursing care of patients with gastrointestinal cancer.Nursing Intervention, Documentation Guidelines, Discharge and Home Healthcare Guidelines are the another knowledge that every nurse must to know. In this article we will try to talk about these topics
