Abstract:
In this investigation, the kinetics of the biodiesel production was studied with or without utilizing the catalyst. The advantages and disadvantages of kinetic methods and mechanism related to biodiesel production were discriminated. The significant effect of catalyst type and concentration on the yield of biodiesel production was observed in most of researches. The concentration change of methanol was neglected in most kinetic models. On the other side, the recommended models was reviewed regarding to the usual assumptions for catalyst-free and catalyzed transesterification. For homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts, the kinetics were typically followed models with the order of 0.5 to 2 relative to the concentration of triglycerides or free fatty acids.
