Abstract:
Background and Aim : In this clinical study, 382 cases with scorpion stings referring to theemergency room in Ahwaz-Sina hospital were surveyed.Methods : They were followed-up for clinical course and prognosis without antivenom astreatment.Results : Pain was observed as a general presentation in all cases; major symptoms includedtenseness, nausea, vomiting, sweating, restlessness and generalized pruritis. No differences wereobserved as for the type and intensity of pain in young children and adults. The prognosis wasexcellent and no mortality was observed.Conclusion : According to the findings, it can be concluded that scorpion stings in Birjand can besuccessfully managed without the use of antivenom.
