Abstract:
This is a review about the risk of genital cancer in infertile women following ART cycles.Recent findings show relationship between use of fertility medications and cancer risk. Limitationsof design of these studies were observed. In addition, infertility by itself is a risk factor for somefemale cancers, including breast, endometrial, and ovarian cancer, most studies cannot show asignificant risk of these cancers with the use of fertility medications. Some studies, however, haveshown a possible increased relative risk of borderline ovarian cancer, although the increased totalrisk is small without a clear determinant relationship. There are several articles that have reported no increased risk of corpus uteri or invasive breastcancer, but increased risks of in situ breast cancer and invasive and borderline ovarian tumors thatit could be due to patient characteristics, rather than assisted reproduction itself. Another articleshowed there is no risk relapse of breast cancer for pregnancy following ART, so these patients couldtry pregnancy in spite of history breast cancer. In addition, it have shown no greater risk of cancer inwomen with ART treatment almost for next 5 years.
