Abstract:
Regarding the need for green energy resources inrecent years, the number of large-scale photovoltaic (PV) powerplants (LPPPs) connected to the power systems is increasing inthe world. Therefore, many dynamic and operationalspecifications of power systems are affected by LPPPs. Thepresent study aimed to evaluate the effect of LPPPs on lowfrequencyoscillations (LFO) in a two-area test system for thedifferent operating conditions. In addition, the newest LPPPdynamic model called Second Generation Generic Model(SGGM) was used. Further, the nonlinear time-domain studieswere conducted on the benchmark test system in order toevaluate the impact of LPPPs on LFO damping. The resultsindicated that adding LPPP to power systems can play a negativeor positive effect on LFO damping based on power systemconditions.
