Abstract:

This essay, Much facilitates the acquirement of anyone of germanic and romance languages, And for the study of two or more, the advantage is still greater.The present study aimed at comparing germanic and romance languages, germanic languages as English and German are so closely related, they share many features; they are similar with some minor spelling and pronunciation differences.It was also found that English contains some cognates, false friends and loan words even with romance languages specially with French.English vocabulary has been greatly influenced by French, English speakers will likely notice a lot of words look like French words.As a romance language most French vocabulary is of Latin origin, in some of the more modern vocabulary hybrid words built from both Latin and Greek roots.French is the most spoken language in Europe, after German and English.Spanish is the second most learned and spoken language in the United States, The Spanish language of Spain also called Castilian; Spanish is closely related to Italian and Portuguese.In fact the Italian language is the closest language to Latin.Spanish, French and Portuguese are derivatives from Latin.Results showed that French kind of stands out as different from other romance languages but in many cases French and Italian are very closely related.Italian and Spanish are very similar while you can not say the same for French.Spanish is still far closer to Latin and to Italian than French
