Abstract:

Background and Aim : Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a nonmalignant enlargement of the prostate caused by cellular hyperplasia and may also be associated with certain male urologic cancers such as prostate cancer. Recent research shows that the prevalence of prostate cancer and its associated mortality is increasing worldwide, while many cases of potential prostate cancer are preventable. Researchers are looking for foods and micronutrients that can reduce the risk of prostate cancer. Studies are now looking at the possible effects of these compounds more closely. Methods : A review study was carried out to find documentation associated to the topic of searching in databases such as: PubMed ,Scopus, Science Direct, ISI, Web of Science Search, Magiran, SID, in both Persian and English, and related articles reviewed And evaluated. Results : Some plants spices deserved more intense investigation and have been considered by scientists in recent research include: extracts from tomato, pomegranate, green tea, broccoli, turmeric, flaxseed, and soy, pumpkin oil and palmetto oil. Scientists have found some substances in tomatoes (lycopene) and soybeans (isoflavones) that might help prevent some prostate cancers. Based on the results of some studies, it could be suggested that pumpkin oil and palmetto oil are clinically safe and may be effective complementary and alternative medicine for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Low intake of animal protein, high intake of fruits and vegetables, lycopene and zinc are a protective factor for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Green Tea consumes highly prevented prostate cancer due to Antioxidants. Conclusion : But so far, most research recommends that a balanced diet including these foods as well as other fruits and vegetables is probably of greater benefit than taking specific substances as dietary supplements. Additional well designed clinical trials in this area are urgently needed.
