Abstract:

In brief, it can be stated that the seismic performance of structures is their most important seismic behavior. The earthquake – induced force is reciprocal and ultimately applies bending moments to the structure, and the confrontation with these bending moments will mark the seismic performance of the structure. Pre – stress internal forces created to counteract these positive and negative waves and moments will act as a vibration reducer. These forces result in a lower vibrational period and an increase in the vibrational frequency and will also cause the vibration to be damped. The creation of internal pre – stress forces can counteract the positive and negative moments caused by earthquake vibration. One of the seismic advantages of using pre – stressed concrete against ordinary concrete is that it can be used with less material due to the increased internal pressure caused by pre – stressing, which is economically viable. Pre – stressed trusses can be used in order to improve the seismic performance of pre – stressed ceilings, which will also significantly reduce the amount of concrete used in a concrete ceiling.
