Abstract:

In this study, the effect of graphene oxide (GO) addition on the viscoelastic properties of epoxy(EP)/glass fiber (GF) composite was investigated. Hand lay-up, as a simple method, was applied forcomposite fabrication. Dynamic mechanical thermal analyses (DMTA) was used to determining theviscoelastic properties the composites. It was found that GO has a positive effect on the storage modulus.In a temperature controlled environment at 50 ºC, the storage modulus increased by 6.1% for thecomposite samples containing 0.5 wt% of GO, over the EP/GF composite; whereas the loss modulusincreased 4.6%. In addition, GO-modified composite showed a decrease in the damping capacity.
