An Agent Based Decision Support System for Inventory Management of Perishable Products: A Case Study

Inventory management has particular importance for supply chains engaged with procurement, production and distribution of perishable items. These items are freshly produced and distributed in the market every day and due to their characteristics and limited shelf life, their management is more complex and delicate than none perishable items, specially, when, there exist real world limitations and constraints in the system. This study aims to design and implement an agent-based decision support system (DSS) for the i nventory management of a largenumber of perishable dairy items under transportation constraint to be used in distribution centers of Solico-Group company, the largest dairy plant in Iran’s food industry.
