Abstract:

Today, with considering the crucial role of risk management, construction projects selection is subject to more risk due to the features of its uncertain activities. To overcome this problem, we could use fuzzy set theory that is highly subjective and related to vague information which we deal in construction projects. This paper uses a fuzzy approach to deal with the project selection problem in construction industry. In this study, to identify the important risk factors questionnaire surveys were used. Based on a comprehensive assessment of the likelihood of occurrence and their impacts on the project objectives, this paper identifies twenty major risk factors. The method is based on multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) using fuzzy approach to select project. The methodology has been demonstrated with the help of a case study in Omran Ab Barsava Company in Iran. Risk evaluation of construction projects is investigated by the proposed fuzzy TOPSIS and we use MATLAB R2011a software for all calculation.
