Abstract:

In this paper, the layout and thickness of the shear wall are considered in two structures with a rectangular plan along with the exit from the center of mass and hard stiffness ness centers and the other with a U-shaped plan. For this purpose, two Reinforced concrete buildings of 8 floors using the water cycle algorithm (WCA ) have been investigated. The objective function is structural weight and design constraints are considered in according to ACI-318 code. In regard to the layout of the shear walls affects directly the distance between the center of mass and stiffness, the control of the torsion is due to the distance between the center of mass and stiffness in the optimization problem.OpenSees and MATLAB softwaress have been used for optimal analysis and design. The results show that the distribution of the walls in the plan is changing to proportional to the location of the center of mass and hardness, and also affected by the limitations of the plan s shape.
