Abstract:

Acoustic streaming is a steady state fluid flow that is generated by acoustic waves in a liquid. Recent studies have been shown that acoustic streaming can be used as a mechanism for drug delivery into the microstructure of human tissue. In this study acoustic streaming produced by a High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) transducer in a cylindrical case is simulated. A geometrically curved piezoelectric is examined to predict the fluid flow generated by acoustic waves and then a k-  turbulent model was used to predict the acoustic streaming field. Acoustic pressure and streaming velocity are reported, Results indicate that acoustic in-tensity at the focal region is 78.7 cmW2 and acoustic streaming peak velocity can be reach up to 6 cms and these values are well-compatible with experimental finding and as a conse- quence this phenomena can be implemented as a mechanism for therapeutic applications, im-provement of heat dissipation in micro-devices, and grain morphology adjustments in metal processing industry.
