Magnetic nanoparticles Supported Manganese(III) Tetrapyridylporphyrin: An Efficient Catalyst for Biomimetic Oxidation of Sulfides with NaIO4

In this work, manganese(III)tetrapyridylporphyrin was supported on magnetic nanoparticles modified with 3-chloroprpylamine. This hetereogeneous catalyst wasused as an efficient catalystfor oxidation of sulfides with sodium periodate under mild conditions. The prepared catalyst, [Mn(TPyP)OAc@SiO2-Fe3O4], wascharacterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, and diffuse reflectance UV-Vis spectrophotometery and scanning electron microscopy. The reactivity of thiscatalyst was investigated in the oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides and sulfones withNaIO4. Also its reusability was checked in the oxidation reactions. The effect of reaction parameters such as solvent and oxidant in the oxidation of sulfides was also investigated.
