Abstract:

Background and Objective: Oral Ophthae is one of the most common oral lesion that appear as recrrent ulcers. Different factors are effective in oral apthae etiology such as mental and immunity disorders, bloody deficiency and stresses. For treating these lesions, different methods such as using steroids, antibiotics, anti-inflammation and anti-pain are recommended. In this research has been studied the effect of a mucoadhesive containing licorice extract to improving recurrent aphthous stomatitis.Materials and Methods: This study is a clinical trial. The studied population is chosen among the referrers to oral and maxillofacial diseases division of faculty of dentistry of Mazandaran university of medical sciences in 1395. In first stage 42 persons have been selected with available sampling method based on inclusions criteria. Then samples were allocated randomly to two groups. 21 patients have been located into intervention group that were treated with mucoadhesive contain licorice extract. 21 patients have been located into control group who recieved base mucodhesive without medicine. Finally results will enter to software SPSS 16 for analyze.Finding: Deduction in the inflammatory halo diagonid of the ophtaes was observed and Time of coming to without pain and complete recovery of aphthous ulcer based on chi-square teeth in intervention group was singnificently lower than control group. Also, all the remembers of intervention group were recovered completely in seven days.Conclusion: With regarding to effect of anti-inflammation of licorice extract and current study results, mucoadhesive containing licorice extract has the ability for decreasing pain, Diameter of ulcer and its inflammation halo and acclerating the recovery of aphthous stomatitis ; therefore, we could solve this problem by making variated dosage forms of this product in order to achieve the best inflammation effect
