Abstract:

Background and Objective: Flapless implant placement techniques are one of the new and applicable techniques in dentistry; but the effects of this technique are still controversial. When soft tissue flaps are reflected for implant placement, the blood supply from the periosteum to the bone is disrupted. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of the flapless (FL) and full-thickness flap (FT) techniques on implant stability.Search Method: Search keyword flap, flapless, and implant performed on Pubmed and Google Scholar websites, all the keywords must be in title, related articles were studied and reviewed. Ten articles in this study were reviewed and the results reported. These ten articles have been published in the last five years. Among these ten articles there was a systematic review article and an animal study article.Finding: The study suggested flapless technique may increase the speed of bone regeneration and result in early secondary implant stability and the duration of recovery was less in flapless treatments. also the study shows that Flap surgery is performed without preservation of the crystal pre-implant bone. One of the article shows that the flapless technique can be considered as a better treatment approach for placement of implants, especially where adequate width and height of available bone are present. Conclusion: The results are not conclusive and have been reported in different articles to some extent and Because of the controversial nature of the subject and different ideas about this, the author wanted to research more about this subject
