Abstract:
Background; Driving Anger Scale (DAS) has used frequently to measure driver angers on roads. However, it has not applied for motorcyclists. This study aimed to evaluate validity and reliability of DAS questionnaire in measuring rider angers. Methods; In this cross -sectional study the validity and reliability of DAS questionnaire evaluated on motorcycle deliveries, in Iran. The DAS modified according to rider conditions, partially, named Riding Anger Scale (RAS). The construct validity evaluated through Principle Component Analysis (PCA) and Multitrait-multi method (MTMM) with applying Buss-Perry Aggression questionnaire. The test-retest method and Cronbach s Alpha used for reliability measurement. Results; The analysis conducted on 518 motorcyclists with mean age of 32.4 (SD=8.8). The Content Validity Index (CVI) was 0.81%. The items with CVI less than 90% modified.Through PCA analysis six components elicited. They were Discourtesy , Police present , Illegal Driving , Hostile Gesture , Traffic Obstruction and Slow Driving , accounting for 53.7% of total variance. The Multitrait-multi method (MTMM) showed significant correlations between RAS s and the Buss-Perry Aggression s components. The total RAS s items had Cronbach s Alpha 0.93. The Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) of test-retest analysis was between 0.76-0.66.Conclusions; RAS has properties of measuring riding anger dimensions. It could be used to assess interventions addressing riding angers.
