Abstract:
Clove oil, as natural herbal products, is used as anesthetics from ancient times in Iran.In this study, the shelf-life time of processed scorched clove oil was studied in 14consecutive days. Three doses (75, 100, 125 ppm) of clove oil (PI222) (processed byPars Imen Daru), were prepared. In first replicate, 40 goldfish, Carassius auratus, and 40 Albunoides eichwaldii, were anesthetized by these doses and anesthesia timewere recorded. Then, this replicate was repeated on the second, seventh andfourteenth days, and the anesthesia time were recorded and compared. The conditionsof maintenance aquarium of anesthesia in the duration of the experiment (two weeks)were the same. This study showed that, fish were anaesthetized at the dose of 75 ppm,in 3 replicates, with the average duration of 5.39 and 4.10 in the three repeated doses, and at the dose of 3.15 in all three replicates. Therefore, no change was observedduring induction of general anesthesia and recovery from the anesthesia in used dosesand in all three replicates. Based on the results, we can use clove oil anesthetic for atleast two weeks in a stable anesthetic repeatedly.
