Crystallization Behavior in Interface of Flouromica-Diopside Glass-Ceramic Composits abstract

A glass-ceramic/ glass-ceramic composite was made by sintering route of a combination of two different flourophlogopite (SiO2-Al2O3-MgO-K2O-F) and diopside (CaO-SiO2-MgO-P2O5) - based glass systems. The first glass-ceramic supplied the machinability and the second one was improved the mechanical properties of the composites. Sintering of individual and composite glasses was done between 800 and 1100◦C for an interval of 15-120 min. It was shown that a new crystalline phase which named flouroapatite [Ca5(PO4)3(F)] was precipitated within the interfaces of diopside - flourophlogopite glass- based particles during sintering, through diffusion of Ca2+ ions from the first glass to the later one.
