How do we think in strategic management?

Attempting to understand the meaning, method and logical structure of strategic management , I conducted a study on the philosophy of science to identify the dominant paradigm in strategic management discipline. Building on four paradigm introduced by burrell& morgan 1975 namely functionalist, interpretive, radical humanism and radical structuralism the literature review showed that despite the epistemological and ontological critiques, the rational functionalist paradigm is the dominant paradigm in the discipline because it helps managers to rationalize their successes and failures, and provides managerial rationality to stakeholders.
