Advances in seismic data processing

there is and increasing to develop new technologies in order to meet the challenges that faces the oil industry. Examples are deep water ventures penetration problems with shallow basalts, situations with near surface scatterers , imagingbelow salt and better utilization/ integration of all available data. seismic data acquistion, seismic data processing and seismic data interpretation are becoming ever more integrated. the developments in acquisition go together with new developments in processing as well as in interpretation and vice versa. depending on the development stage of a field there is also more integration between the varous disciplines of geophysics petrophysics., production geology and reservoir evgineering. during the talk an overview will be given of the develiopments in data acquisition e.g.new geometries , multi -component and data interpretation e.g.attributes , elastic inversion. the impact of these developments on seismic data processing will be discussed as well as new approaches to the various processing steps as a consequence of new insights and the availability of additional data from the other disciplines.
