Abstract:

Measurement models have many applications in various areas of management. These can be include measuring risk priorities with the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) model, measuring customer satisfaction or prioritizing product design requirements with the KANO model, and even the Mini-Max normalization model of tabledata for a prioritization purpose. In this article, we show why and how the results of these measurements can lead to erroneous and misleading results. With this, we do not want to discredit such a widespread and well-established procedure as FMEA but just highlight that those are include questionable aggregations. The main cause of thesemisleading results is the use of unauthorized statistics in scales of measurement
