Abstract:

With the increase in concerns about environmental problems, the usage of different types of electric vehicles (EVs) has been increased. Some major drawbacks of battery powered and fuel cell powered EVs such as high cost, low reliability, high operation temperature, short driving range, and long charging time have highlighted their limitations. A very efficient solution is powertrain hybridization, which have been studied by numerous researchers these years. The architecture of powertrain and strategies of energy management affect the entire system efficiency and performance. In this paper an Optimized energy management strategy (EMS) is introduced which considers the properties of all power sources. Also, the effects of powertrain hybridization on system efficiency and performance are analyzed in five different hybrid systems. The simulation is done in MATLA/SIMULINK and results are analyzed in detail.
