Abstract:

The present work investigates the temperature distribution, efficiency and effectiveness of circular porous fins with rectangular section. Fins are made of aluminium and the temperature of fin base is constant and the fin tip is adiabatic type. Furthermore, it is assumed that the thermal conductivity is a function of porosity and the heat transfer coefficient is a function of temperature. The governing equation is solved numerically using the finite difference method applying the Gauss-Seidel algorithm. The effects of various parameters such as Darcy number, Rayleigh number and porosity on the fin temperature distribution, fin efficiency and fin effectiveness are studied. The results showed that increasing of the Darcy number, Rayleigh number and porosity decreases the temperature on the fin surface.
