In order to study the effect of planting pattern, density and cultivar on grain yield of soybean , an experiment was conducted at Safi Abad Agricultural Research Center during 2007-2009. The design was factorial strip plot in a completely randomized block bases with 3 replications. Horizental factors were consisted of planting pattern (row spacing) in 3 levels (60 cm with 1 cultivated row, 75 cm and 90 cm with 2 cultivated rows), plant density (30, 40 and 50 plant/m2) and cultivars (504, L14 and DPX) were considered vertical factors as factorial. Results indicated that the significant difference was observed among simple effects of year, planting pattern and density, also the interaction between year*planting pattern, year*cultivar, planting pattern*density, year*cultivar, density*cultivar on grain yield. The results were related to the interaction between planting pattern*density indicated the highest yield (4471.64 kg/ha) was belonged to 60cm (Row to Row) with single row cultivation and 50 plant/m2 during two years, these treatment was located in same group with 75 cm (Row to Row) with double row cultivation and 50 plant/m2 (4299.07 kg/ha). The grain yield was decreased in all of plant density in 90cm (Row to Row) with double row cultivation. On the other hand, increasing of plant density could not able to compensate of negative effects of increasing distance between row and all levels of plant density were been in same group in 90cm (Row to Row) with double row cultivation. The interaction between density*cultivar showed, the gain yield increased as a resulted of increasing plant density in 504 and DPX cultivars. The highest (4270.90 kg/ha) and the lowest (3431.90 kg/ha) grain yield were obtained for DPX with 50 and 30 plant/m2 treatments respectively. The highest (35.15) and the lowest (25.82) number of pods per plant were obtained for 504 cultivar with 30 plant/m2 and DPX cultivar with 50 plant/m2 respectively. Increasing the number of pods in 504 cultivar was considered to indeterminate growth. By considering the results of this experiment, 60cm (Row to Row) with single row cultivation and 75cm (Row to Row) with double row cultivation with an application of 50 plant/m2 and using DPX and 504 cultivars is recommended.
