Abstract:

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of electrolyte on reduction of heat stress in broilers, during summer growing conditions of Khuzestan province From 4 to 8 weeks of age birds were provided with different strength of 5, 10 and 15 percent of human oral rehydration therapy (ORT) solution. The formula of ORT prescribed by Moenginah etal., 1975 contains 3.5 grams sodium chloride, 2.5 grams sodium bicarbonate, 1.5 grms potassium chloride, and 20 grams glucose per liter of water. This experiment was analysed as a compeletly randomized design with four treatments and six replications. Different factors of growth rate, feed consumption, feed convesion effeciency, dressing percentage and mortality were studied. The results showed that the solution of electrolyte. Used in drinking water of broilers had on significant effect on body wiegh (P<0.01), feed consumption (P<0.05) and mortality rate (p<0.01), but its effect on other factors ie; feed conversion efficiency and dressing percentage was not significant.
