Abstract:

In ordre to determine the adaptation and evaluation of terminal drought tolerance in 22 bread wheat lines/varieties in four experimental field stations: Zabol. Ahwaz, Dezful and Iranshar for one cropping seasons (2003-04) were conducted in two experiments: 1-Full Irrigation (FI), 2- Terminal drought stress (TDS), using randomized complete block design (RCBD), with three replications. These lines/varieties selected from commercial and local and premising lines in warm and dry region of country (ZONE II). Based on correlation between stability parameters ,statistics as total mean grain yield (from FI &TDS) yield index ratio (YIR), and standard deviation from mean ranked (SDR) in TDS condition were used in selection of superior lines.Selected lines had higher total mean grain yield, low SDR and YIR in TDS condition and desired agronomic characteristic. Lines no. 1,2,6,14,16 and 17 with total mean grain yield (FI & TDS) of 4777,4620,5011,4792,4973 and 4903 , and percent YIR (TDS) 116,107,128,107,108 and 111 and SDR(TDS), 2.708,4.960,3.594,8.756,3.862 and 4.655 recpectivility. Showed wide adaptation, toloreance to terminal drought stress , higher mean grain yield, lower SDR and greater YIR (TDS) and greatly yield stability in TDS condition and desired agronomic characteristic. Six lineas based on the above criteion were selected to be studied in the Elite Regional Uniform Yield trail drought stress (ERWYT_DRUOGHT ZONE II) in southern warm and dry Zone in the 2005-06 cropping seasons.
